Microfibre pads cut fast, but many mat down, clog and break apart over a long correction session. The Lake Country Microfiber HDO Cutting Pad is built for medium to heavy correction on all paint systems. Thousands of fine fibre strands act as abrasives to level sanding marks, swirl damage and oxidation quickly, while still leaving a surprisingly refined finish for a cutting pad.
Built for DA polishers
A durable foam interface sits between the microfibre face and the backing plate. It improves machine feel and keeps the pad balanced under pressure on orbital polishers, and it reduces matting so the cut stays consistent pass after pass.
Ventilated centre cooling
The HDO version has a ventilated centre cavity that releases heat from the middle of the pad. That keeps pad temperatures down, reduces fatigue on the fibres and extends pad life during long correction sessions.

How to use
- Prep: wash, decontaminate and dry the paint.
- Fit the pad: attach it to your DA polisher, ideally on a centre-ventilated backing plate.
- Prime the pad: work a small amount of compound into the fibres.
- Test spot: check the level of correction on a small section first.
- Cut: work small sections with slow, overlapping passes and moderate pressure.
- Clean the pad: brush or blow out the fibres every section or two to stop them matting.
- Refine: follow with a polishing or finishing pad for maximum gloss.
Pad care
- Clean the fibres often during use, or use a pad washer like the Lake Country System 4000.
- Wash after use with warm water and a pad cleaner, then air-dry face down and brush the fibres up.
FAQs
Microfibre or wool?
Both cut hard. Microfibre generally finishes cleaner on a DA, while wool cuts fastest on the heaviest defects.
Will it work on hard clear coats?
Yes. It works across hard, medium and soft clears.
Do I need to polish afterwards?
It finishes well for a cutting pad, but for maximum gloss, follow with the SDO Orange and SDO Black.
