Description
Foam cutting power for DA polishers.
When swirls, scratches and defects need real correction, the Lake Country SDO Blue Cutting Pad delivers the cut on dual-action polishers. It's the cutting pad in the SDO range, built for consistent, controlled correction with the cooler running and long life of Lake Country's SDO design.
The SDO range
Standard Duty Orbital (SDO) pads use the same foams as Lake Country's HDO line, but without the dual-layer construction. They're designed for random orbital DA polishers with a centre-ventilated backing plate, and the foams stay firm and consistent through the whole heat cycle, even on long-throw machines.
Centre-ventilated cooling
A centre hole creates a tunnel that releases heat from the middle of the pad. That lowers surface temperatures, reduces the risk of paint damage, extends pad life and helps with perfect pad alignment on the backing plate.
Tapered edge
The tapered edge stops the pad rolling, keeps it rotating well and gives you precision on curved and contoured panels and in tight areas.

- Centre-ventilated cooling chamber: lower temperatures and longer pad life
- Tapered edge: no rolling, great rotation and precision on curves

How to use
- Prep: wash, decontaminate and dry the paint.
- Fit the pad: attach it to a centre-ventilated backing plate on your DA polisher.
- Prime the pad: spread a small amount of compound across the face.
- Test spot: check the level of correction on a small section first.
- Cut: work small sections with slow, overlapping passes, keeping the pad flat.
- Wipe and inspect: remove the residue and check under good light, then refine with a polishing pad.
Pad care
- Clean the pad face regularly during use, or use a pad washer like the Lake Country System 4000.
- Wash after use with warm water and a pad cleaner, then air-dry face down.
FAQs
What backing plate do I need?
A centre-ventilated backing plate, so the cooling chamber can do its job.
Can I use it on a long-throw DA?
Yes. SDO foams are designed for consistent performance on long-throw polishers.
Do I need to polish afterwards?
For the best finish, yes. Follow with the SDO Orange, then the SDO Black.
