How to use
- Fit a pad: attach a 3" to 3.5" pad to the 75 mm backing plate.
- Prime the pad: spread a small amount of compound or polish across the face.
- Start low: spread the product at a low speed with the pad flat on the paint.
- Polish: increase the speed and work small sections, keeping the machine moving.
- Watch the heat: rotaries build heat fast, so keep the pad moving and check panel temperature, especially on edges.
- Refine: follow with a finer pad and polish, or a DA, to remove any holograms.
FAQs
Is it suitable for beginners?
Rotaries take practice, but the small 3" size and variable speed make the M550 one of the easier rotaries to control. If you're new to machine polishing, a DA like the M312 is more forgiving.
What pads does it take?
3" to 3.5" hook-and-loop pads, such as the Lake Country Low Lint Wool or SDO Orange in 3.5".
Does it have overheat protection?
Yes. Auto shut-off carbon brushes stop the motor before overheating causes damage.
