Description

The cut of wool, the finish of foam.

Traditional wool pads cut fast but leave haze and compounding swirls behind, and they mat and cake as you work. The Lake Country Purple Foamed Wool Cutting Pad solves both. Its patented nanofoam process combines the aggressive cutting power of wool with the more refined finish of foam, removing heavy defects quickly while finishing down far cleaner than standard wool.

What is foamed wool?

Lake Country's patented nanofoam process coats the base of each wool fibre with microscopic polyfoam particles. This creates tiny air pockets at the base of the fibres, which improves cushioning, helps the pad hold compound and polish, and stops the fibres caking and matting.

Fast cut, cleaner finish

It removes sanding marks as deep as P1500 grit and leaves a brilliant finish with minimal haze or compounding swirls. That means less refining work afterwards and a faster overall correction.

Consistent, pad after pad

Natural sheepskin varies from pad to pad. Foamed wool is manufactured to a uniform standard, so you get the same performance from every pad.

Choose your size

Size Best for
3.5" Spot repairs and tight areas: pillars, mirrors and bumper edges
5" All-round correction on panels and curves
6.5" Fast coverage on large, flat panels

Ideal for

  • Heavy paint correction
  • Removing sanding marks after wet sanding
  • Heavy swirls, scratches and oxidation
  • Detailers who want wool's cut with less finishing work

How to use

  1. Prep: wash, decontaminate and dry the paint.
  2. Prime the pad: brush the fibres up and work a small amount of compound into the face.
  3. Test spot: start with a small section to check the cut and finish.
  4. Cut: work small sections with slow, overlapping passes and moderate pressure.
  5. Clean the pad: brush or blow it out every section or two.
  6. Refine: follow with a polishing or finishing pad for maximum gloss.

Pad care

  • Wash after use with warm water and a pad cleaner, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Air-dry face down, then brush the fibres back up before the next use.

FAQs

How is it different from a normal wool pad?
The foamed base improves cushioning and product retention and resists matting, so it finishes with less haze than standard wool.

Will it remove sanding marks?
Yes. It removes sanding marks as deep as P1500 grit.

Do I need to polish afterwards?
It finishes cleaner than standard wool, but for maximum gloss, follow with a polishing or finishing pad.
