Gtechniq I1 Smart Fabric AB turns ordinary fabric into a water-repellent, easy-to-clean surface. Its nano-particles coat each individual fibre to repel water- and oil-based stains without changing the fabric's feel or breathability. The AB version adds BioCote® antimicrobial technology for extra protection against bacteria on treated interior surfaces.

Repels spills, stays breathable

Spills bead up and roll off instead of soaking in, and leave no visible residue. Because each fibre is coated individually rather than sealed over, the fabric stays breathable and keeps its natural texture. I1 achieves the highest water-repellency rating in AATCC testing.

BioCote® antimicrobial technology

The AB formula includes BioCote® antimicrobial technology, which Gtechniq states kills 99.9% of bacteria on treated surfaces. It's ideal for high-touch interior fabrics in family cars, rideshare and fleet vehicles.

Durable and fluorocarbon-free

Gtechniq rates I1 for 6 to 18 months of water repellency, and its protection holds up to washing at 40 °C. The formula is fluorocarbon-free.

Preparation

1. Clean: clean interior fabrics with a suitable interior or fabric cleaner. For exterior fabrics, use an all-purpose cleaner, neat for heavy soiling or diluted 5:1 for light dirt.
2. Dry completely: allow up to 48 hours in good conditions. The fabric must be far drier than "touch dry", with a moisture content below 15%, for the product to soak in properly.

How to apply

1. Prepare: shake well and wear gloves. Work at 5 °C or above, in a well-ventilated area, out of direct sunlight.
2. Test: try a small, hidden area first.
3. Spray: spray evenly from about 15 cm away, thoroughly saturating the fabric.
4. Get it right first time: once the first coat dries, the fabric repels further product, so additional coats can't be added.
5. Tidy up: wipe any overspray off surrounding surfaces immediately, and remove excess product from the fabric with a clean microfibre cloth.
6. Cure: allow 24 hours to dry. Full effectiveness is reached after this time.

Storage

• Store in a cool, dry place.
• Use within 12 months of opening.

Can I use it on Alcantara?
Yes. I1 Smart Fabric is suitable for Alcantara®.

Can I add a second coat later?
Not once the first coat has dried, because the treated fabric repels further product. Apply one thorough, even coat.

Will it change how my seats feel?
No. It coats each fibre individually and keeps the fabric's natural feel and breathability.

How long does it last?
