Description
Purewax 3.5" Black Spider-Cut Foam Finishing Pad
The last step to a flawless, mirror-like finish.
Cutting and polishing remove the defects, but the finishing pad is what brings out the gloss and clarity. 3D’s black spider-cut pad is ultra-soft foam designed for that final refining step, leaving paint swirl-free, deep and wet-looking.
At 3.5", it’s ideal for detail work: A-pillars, mirrors, bumpers, door handle recesses and tight curves where a full-size pad won’t reach.
Part of 3D’s simple 3-pad system
You don’t need dozens of pads. For most jobs, 3D uses three:
| Step | Pad | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Cut | Dark purple foam | Remove heavy defects |
| Polish | Light purple foam | Refine and remove haze |
| Finish | Black foam (this pad) | Maximise gloss and clarity |
Why the spider-cut design works
- More finishing power: the slotted face flexes as it spins, increasing surface contact for faster refining
- Longer working time: the cuts open up and trap polish, keeping the abrasives working against the paint for longer
- Runs cooler: air flows through the slots, reducing heat and stopping the pad face from caving in (“bowling”)
- Lasts longer: open-cell foam with high tensile strength resists tearing better than cheap closed-cell pads
Key features
- Ultra-soft foam: little to no cut, built purely for refining and gloss
- Spider-cut face: better finishing, longer product life and cooler running
- Durable: foam chemistry tuned for heat, chemical resistance and consistent performance
- Versatile: the finish depends on the product, from very light polishing to the final finish
- 3.5" size: perfect for tight spots and small panels
Works with any polisher
- Rotary
- Long-throw dual action
- Short-throw dual action
- Free-spinning orbitals
- Gear-driven orbitals
Best products to pair with it
Use it with 3D 502, 520, ONE or SPEED. Match the product to your goal, from light correction to the ultimate final finish.
When to use it
Use the finishing pad as the last step in multi-stage paint correction, after compounding and polishing. If your polishing step already gives you the result you want, finishing is optional. But for show-car clarity, this is the step that gets you there.
How to use
- Prime the pad: spread a small amount of polish across the face.
- Start slow: spread the product at low speed, then increase to your working speed.
- Light pressure: finishing is about refinement, so let the pad and product do the work.
- Work small sections: use overlapping passes until the product breaks down.
- Wipe and inspect: remove the residue with a clean microfibre towel and check under good lighting.
Pad care
- Clean the pad face often during use with a pad brush or compressed air.
- Wash it after each job in warm water with a pad cleaner, then air-dry it face down.
- Keep finishing pads separate from cutting pads so no stray abrasives contaminate them.
